Island Cove supports Brigada Eskwela- conducts clean up of Binakayan National High School

(Cavite, Philippines- June 10, 2010) The Management of Island Cove Hotel and Leisure Park, the premier business and leisure destination in the South, recently signed on as a Brigada Eskwela volunteer.

On June 8, 2010, Island Cove’s  Bayanihan Employees Council  (BEC)   conducted a clean up of Binakayan National High School in Cavite. Members of the BEC painted the classroom walls and repaired its facilities and fixtures. They likewise turned over some cleaning materials to the school administration for use during the school year. Approximately 1,400 students use the facilities of the school. 

Island Cove Managing Director Gilbert Remulla said, “As we all know, education is the key to a better future,” He continued, “Through this project, we hope to provide an environment more conducive to studying and where the students will be inspired and enlivened to learn.”

Brigada Eskwela was founded by the Department of Education in 2003 and since then has become a movement that made sure public schools are ready for the opening of classes.

Over the years, Brigada Eskwela was able to gather an increasing amount of support from both private and public sectors.
